Infiniti Repairs
Every vehicle needs repairs at one time or another and Infiniti models are no exception. All vehicles experience extreme temperature fluctuations, which means hoses, gaskets and belts will deteriorate and crack overtime. Some of the most common repairs our technicians see are:
Wheel Bearings
It’s important that you do not continue to drive your Infiniti if you suspect it has a bad wheel bearing. The most common symptom is a roaring or grinding noise coming from the tire area while driving, especially when making turns. If the steering wheel feels loose or wobbles, have your Infiniti inspected as soon as possible with one of Pickerings’ ASE Certified expert technicians. We’ll replace the wheel bearing before further damage can occur, getting you safely back on the road.
Charging System Light
If the charging system light or battery indicator light turns on, it means there’s a problem with your charging system. You should drive directly to see your ASE certified technician without turning off the engine. Reduce the electrical load by turning off anything that is drawing extra power, such as the heat, AC, stereo or phone charger. The cause of the problem could be any of the following: a bad battery connection, a bad alternator, loose alternator belt or blown fuses. Bring your Infiniti to Pickering’s Auto Service right away, before the battery drains and you need a jumpstart or a tow.
Gas Gauge
If the fuel gauge isn’t working properly, you may notice variations in gas gauge readings. For example, your gas gauge may indicate your tank is empty even if you have just filled up. It’s likely due to a problem with the fuel gauge sending unit located inside your Infiniti’s gas tank. Bring your vehicle in to Pickering’s Auto Service. Our ASE Certified technicians can diagnose the issue and replace your fuel gauge sending unit if necessary.
Fuel Filler Hose
There is a recall for some Infiniti 2003-2006 models in which the fuel filler hose can crack, resulting in fuel leaking onto the ground while you are filling your gas tank. This is serious as the leaking fuel could catch on fire. If you see fuel leaking on the ground when you fill your tank or if you smell strong fumes, bring your Infiniti to Pickering’s Auto Service right away to have the fuel filler hose replaced.
Check Engine Light
A check engine light turns on when there is a problem with the engine and it shouldn’t be ignored. Your Pickering’s ASE certified technician can check the diagnostic codes in order to accurately fix the problem. Here are a few of the most common issues we see:
Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP)If your Infiniti gives a code related to the
EVAP system, a common cause can be a loose gas cap. Check to make sure the gas cap is fully tightened. If the check engine light stays on, there may be a bigger problem with the EVAP system such as a leak, or you may need to replace your gas cap with a new one.
Cylinder Misfire
A cylinder misfire code can mean a bad spark plug, faulty ignition coils, or fuel injector problems. Continuing to drive your Infiniti with a misfiring engine can cause further damage to your vehicle. It’s best to bring your vehicle to Pickering’s Auto Service as soon as possible for repairs before the problem becomes more serious and costly.
Catalytic Converter
Along with a check engine light, other common signs of a catalytic converter problem are a rattling noise, sudden drop in fuel efficiency, or a reduction in power. It’s unlikely you will pass an emissions test will a bad catalytic converter so, bring your Infiniti to Pickering’s Auto Service for the proper diagnosis and repairs.
Faulty Oxygen Sensor
A faulty oxygen sensor can be the cause of a check engine light. You may also notice your Infiniti has a rough idle, the engine misfires, or it gets poor gas mileage.
