Importance of Electrical Service
Correctly operating electrical systems are necessary to ensure a safe and dependable vehicle. Electrical systems have doubled and tripled their complexity and service requirements in recent years to supply all of the demands of the newer electronics. On-board computers, modules and sensors all require stable electrical delivery so that components work as they were designed. The heart of a vehicle is its alternator, which keeps the battery charged and supplies all the electrical needs. Our ASE certified technicians are trained to identify and repair these types of electrical needs.
Frequency of Electrical Service & Warning Signs
To avoid costly repairs and replacements, Pickering’s recommends having your battery replaced every four years, as they usually last between three and seven years. To ensure your safety in your vehicle, we recommend you have your electrical system checked at least annually, and immediately if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Vehicle won’t start – when turning your key, you hear a clicking, grinding, or no sound at all
- Dashboard or interior lights don’t illuminate properly
- Headlights dim while you’re traveling at low speeds, or while idling at a stop
- Speedometer and RPMs not reading
