Stretched Timing Chains

Timing chains that become stretched are a common problem, particularly with the Buick Enclave. Having your oil serviced on a regular basis with a Pickering’s ASE Certified technician will help extend the life of your timing chain. If slack develops in the timing chain, it’s important to have it repaired or replaced right away in order to avoid even bigger problems such as damaged pistons and valves.

Air Intake Manifold Gasket Leaks

A common failure point is the upper intake manifold on GM engines. One of the first signs of a problem is coolant loss. You may also notice more engine noise or a decrease in power and acceleration.  If you suspect your manifold needs replacing, bring your Buick to Pickering’s Auto Service and have it inspected by one of our ASE certified technicians.

Power Windows & Door Locks

If you’re having trouble raising or lowering the windows on your Buick, it could be due to a faulty power window regulator.  The door locks are controlled by a power door lock actuator that, if faulty, will cause the door locks to not function as they should. Cooling System Leaks

A bad water pump can cause your Buick’s engine to overheat, causing severe damage. Common signs of a faulty water pump are high temperature readings or coolant forming a puddle under your vehicle. Bring your Buick to Pickering’s Auto Service for a full vehicle health inspection to identify cooling system issues early and avoid more costly repairs.

Valve Cover Gasket Leaks

Your Buick’s engine has a valve cover that is sealed with a gasket to prevent oil from leaking out. Valve cover gaskets are made from rubber or cork, which eventually deteriorates, becoming cracked and brittle over the years. Even a small amount of oil leaking from the valve cover can cause major damage to your engine. Have your Buick serviced regularly with a Pickering’s ASE Certified technician who can spot oil leaks early on and make the necessary repairs.

Oil Pans

The oil pan gasket is what seals the oil pan to the bottom of the engine. The oil pan contains the oil the engine needs to keep it lubricated and running smoothly. Oil pan gaskets will wear out over time, allowing engine oil to leak from the pan. If you see oil spots on the ground beneath your car or your engine light comes on, bring your Buick to Pickering’s Auto Service right away for a diagnosis.

Rear Main Seal

Due to the location of the rear main seal, the transmission or the engine will need to be removed in order to replace it, making this a time and labor-intensive repair. Our ASE certified technicians can detect oil leaks early on before they become bigger issues. Bring your Buick to Pickering’s Auto Service regularly for routine oil service.
